Every Irishman's favorite time of year is fast approaching! As St. Patrick's Day draws near, Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. has compiled a number of exciting events going on in Downtown Indianapolis that you simply can not miss. Be sure to check www.indydt.com for more information.
The official run/walk of the holiday is the 19th annual Shamrock Run and Walk March 13 at 9 a.m. The four-mile run and walk course starts on Monument Circle in Downtown Indianapolis and ends in Fountain Square - home of the "Irish Hill." Don't miss one of Indy's oldest Irish traditions! Overall awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in the competitive run and walk.
It wouldn't be St. Patrick's Day without the annual Hoosier Lottery Greening of the Downtown Canal by Mayor Greg Ballard March 17. The greening begins at 6:45 a.m.
The 30th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. on March 17. Honor Indianapolis's Irish Citizen of the Year, Rev. Glenn L. O'Connor, at the Parade Tent Party located in the middle of the Parade route on Vermont Street between Meridian and Pennsylvania streets. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. and are FREE.

The above parade route and surrounding streets will be closed beginning at 9:30 a.m. The affected streets are expected to reopen by 3 p.m.
